This Will (Hopefully) Never Happen

This was Garry Trudeau’s ‘Doonesbury’ post in the Sunday newspaper recently. Yes, AVATARS and AI are taking over the world, but I’m fervently hoping it won’t happen to Kdramas.

When Judy and I went to the HALLYU conference last year, one of the guest panel was Park Ji-Eun, the screenwriter for Crash Landing on You. Over the course of her career, she has written many Kdramas and has received many awards. At the conference she talked about the rocky path to success and the difficulty in getting work and recognition. I think her story of finally succeeding has helped her write the Kdramas that so many of us followers can relate to. I don’t think AI could ever have done as good a job as she did!

Kdramas already use a variety of CGI (computer generated imagery) to enhance the storyline, and that’s fine with me. I’m just not ready to have a computer make me swoon! ~ Pat
