*I just had to borrow the above phrase from ‘The Sound of Music’.
Bathroom Mirror. Why didn’t we think of this? You take a shower, the mirror gets all fogged
up. Koreans have figured out how to keep the rectangle in front of the sink clear. Genius.
Special cutlery and tableware for kids. These were in all the restaurants we visited, even the hotel ones. So cute!
Ginseng soup. My first glimpse of this meal was when I watched Mr. Sunshine. Choi Moo-sung plays Gunner Jang, the person who teaches Go Ae-shin how to shoot a gun. In the series he is married to Choi Yoo-Jin who operates the restaurant across the river from the potter. In one scene she gives Eugene a very small chicken while she serves her husband an extremely large one. The look on Eugene's face is priceless. Each serving consists of a whole chicken that is stuffed with rice, dates, and chestnuts and served in a broth with ginseng roots. Yummo!
Where the LG logo came from. This ancient shard is called The Silla Smile. The Silla Dynasty
existed between 57 BCE and 935 AD. The Joseon Dynasty followed. There are many Kdramas that depict both dynasties. Everytime I see the LG logo I will remember seeing this in The National Museum of Korea.
Cherry trees. Wearing traditional clothing is routine here. This lovely photo was taken by David, one of my buddies on the tour.
Tissues? As daughter Emily says, “kinda sorta but not really”. These are napkins to be used at meals. So handy!
Anyone know what this is?
is it soap?
What is that last gadget?
Love, love the picture of the Korean woman and the cherry trees. So beautiful 😊
How do they keep the mirror unformed?
Thanks so much for enlightening us with all these interesting things about Korea that I would never know otherwise as a trip to Korea is not in my future. Your blog is so interesting!
