Still Wondering...

Judy Here. This Blog post first appeared 2 years ago. I feel like it has held up over time & is worth repeating. So here goes!

Being the upbeat, friendly, outgoing person that I think I can be, I naturally recommended Kdramas to my circle of friends. All of them nodded their heads and murmured positive reactions.

Then they promptly ignored me. I sounded like a broken record..... 'You will love this...' 'I'm having such fun....' 'I laughed out loud....' and on and on. Yep, they still ignored me. A lesser person would have taken this the wrong way. Do my friends really disregard everything I say? Are my tastes so bad that no one will listen to me? These ugly thoughts ran through my head.

After weeks and weeks of this I finally got a sister-in-law to try it....she hated the subtitles. Again weeks pass and finally I hit pay dirt! My first cousin finally takes the bait & watches Mr Sunshine! And, miracle of miracles, he actually liked it. I felt reaffirmed and confident that there are people out there who like what I like.

Now my friends are learning that I'm planning on becoming an International Influencer and dominate the world of Kdrama blogs and some of them are thinking of watching my recommended shows. Not actually watching.... just thinking of watching. <sigh> -Nov 2022

2024 Update: Guess What? I have still failed. I can count the Kdrama converts on my hands: my now favorite baby brother & wife, my cousin, my sister, my German buddy, a couple of people who watched a show or two, my sister in law who has accepted subtitles,.... and that's about it. Mind you Pat and I have been enthusiastically talking about Kdramas for OVER TWO YEARS!!! Still virtually nada on new Kdrama addicts. In fact, we have had better success getting people to read this blog than we have gotten them to actually watch Kdramas. Being philosophical I guess we should be pleased that our readers find us so interesting (hilarious? intriguing? ridiculous?) that they continue to stick with the blog. But honestly, the shows are terrific.

Yes, Pat and I feel pretty lonely since few people will watch Kdramas with us! (Don't you love the above advertisement? I thought it was fabulous.)

Sister-in-law here. I thoroughly enjoy your blog, and I've enjoyed several Kdramas. Sometimes, I tell my husband, "Shhh!" even though I can't understand a word they are saying! Reading subtitles is do-able but there's not always time to look at the facial expressions before a new subtitle appears.

I have to have the sound up so I can HEAR the Korean.... hilarious since I don't understand most of it! Pat and I use the reverse button to go back & see what we missed.

Oh My! I don't think Pat nor I have started Single's Inferno.... but given your recommendation & Chris from the airport perhaps we should try it! Thanks for continuing to follow us Laura.

People don’t know what they are missing! I try to spread the word, but not many takers. But I’m glad I have my KDramas. They add so much happiness to my life😊
