Certainly it's common in Asian countries to remove your shoes at home and Korea is no exception. Naturally I have some comments surrounding this custom...
Do they only have one pair of shoes? The vast majority of Kdrama homes have a little foyer where everyone changes their shoes with a step up to enter the living space. At the entrance they have their outdoor shoes and their slippers and switch back and forth coming & going. Why do I have 16 pairs of shoes in my closet but Kdramas only have 1 pair of outdoor shoes and 1 pair of indoor slippers?
How can they get lace-up shoes off & on so quickly? Why do I have to sit on a bench to do this, but they can manage the task without even bending over? Wouldn't that mean their shoes are loosely laced and would flap on their feet when they walk outside?
Slippers are often seen in use at the workplace. What better way to make your staff feel happy at work than to have slippers under their desks for use inside the office. But this slipper usage will have you noticing the sound of slippers scuffing around the office which kind of gives off an unusual vibe.
My favorite daughter lived in Japan for a number of years and naturally I visited. While attending an assembly at the local school I was surprised to see all the business men in suits changing to slippers brought from home before entering the gym ...including whimsical slippers like Mickey Mouse or Fuzzy Slippers. Suits & fuzzy slippers.... wow, that's confidence!
Kdramas are such fun...
I have been using crocks as my inside slippers for years. mMy feet seem to like it.
