Judy here. Okay, this is just about the best thing I've seen lately. In Boys Over Flowers our main guy Lee Min-ho is interested in the lead woman played by Koo Hye-sun. So he visits her family home to meet everyone and asks to spend the night. Her parents willingly agree.
The unforgettable scene is the family lined up on the floor in this order:
Mom ~ Girlfriend ~ younger brother ~ Boyfriend ~ Dad
I kid you not. All there together like one big happy family under a common comforter. I have to ask a native Korean if this is actually the norm. At the very least, I will let my single, adult kids know that I will welcome their love interest in the future... (I can see them squirming now.)
Pat here. I knew there was a reason I didn’t finish ‘Boys Over Flowers’, but I just didn’t know exactly why until I read what Judy wrote. It’s all so perfectly clear now. Ha! But it's a classic from the early days of Kdramas... and it grows on you.
I really liked Boys over Flowers. It was cringy at times but certainly worth the watch. Although I was team Kim Hyun-joong till the end! And the OST is so good!
I thought that your comments were cute, and I think a sleepover would be lots of fun for everyone!
I should qualify my remarks - “It’s so over the top, you can’t stop watching”.
Like all KDramas, there is sad and tragic scenes along with the funny ones.
I really like the actress who plays the lead. She has the best facial expressions. And the 4 young men, when they enter a room, they seem to have a light illuminating them It’s the best.
I will make "Boys Over Flowers" my next Kdrama. Currently, I am bingeing on AppleTV's "The Morning Show" with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Aniston deserves a multitude of awards for her acting in this. The actors speak English (!) so I can watch their faces not the printing below all the action.
I loved Boys Over Flowers. It’s so over the top funny that you can’t stop watching it.
