Saunas in Korea are completely different than the saunas we know as Americans. Per our Kdramas there are lots of independent saunas located throughout cities. These saunas, known as Jjimjilbang, have bathing facilities as well as food and sleeping accommodations. From what I see you change into loose, shorts & tops and you can bed down in a communal room that has mats scattered about. As a bonus many of the women wear these interesting 'hats' made from towels...what fun! Furthermore, these saunas are said to be inexpensive.
So, instead of driving home after a long day at work you can simply go to a nearby sauna and spend the night there for very little money. The 'squad' from North Korea that was featured in Crash Landing on You (CLOY) took advantage of these Saunas and were blown away by how comfortable and cozy they were. Of course, they came from North Korea so I'm not sure their standards match up with my standards but the whole concept is interesting.
Those giggling ladies are having too much fun to be in a sweltering sauna. Or, maybe they don't perspire? Ans, is the entire large room sauna-tized? In the pictures, they look like like hardwood basketball courts!
I think that would be a great way to destress after a hard work week
