NO ONE IS SAFE FROM ME…Redux

Writer's picture: Pat PPat P

Is it me or is it Minneapolis? The last time I was here I met two Korean guys I coaxed off the street and into the apartment so I could give them my Kdrama Gmamas business cards (post from 10/11/2024.) The time before that, I met Barbara, whom I also did a post on (9/18/2023.)

I’m in Minnesota again , and it’s “deja vu all over again” (shoutout to Yogi Berra for this great phrase.) My seatmate, aside from my husband, was Chris. He works for Samsung, has been to Korea many times, and knows all about Kdramas. What a find! His wife is a Kdrama fan as well.

After we shared ideas for watching Kdramas, he suggested Singles Inferno, a reality show like The Bachelor or The Bachelorette on American tv. Hmmmmm… this might be a bridge too far for this Gmama.

No matter. It was so fun to meet a complete stranger who shares my interest in Kdramas. Serendipity is a wonderful thing! ~ Pat

He even dresses like Koreans; hoodie under a blazer! I complimented Pat for making this connection and to paraphrase she said "I just talked on an on and he was polite enough to tolerate me." Whatever it takes.... ~ Judy

Pat, I wouldn't worry about Singles Inferno. Compared to any US dating show, it's quaint & chaste. Any touch of the fingers has everyone aflutter. It's a fun show, especially in the beginning seasons while they were still figuring things out. One difference from American reality shows that I enjoyed was that for this show, there's a panel of actors/celebrities/comedians/entertainers) who comment on the action in the show. A lot of K reality shows seem to have this feature & I've really enjoyed it. Interesting to get their perspective & see how they react.

"Inferno" is an uninhabited island where contestants are helicoptered in and stay initially--think glamping more than Survivor. There is a separate structure for women to do…

Hi Judy! Yes, I now follow Gmamas and love this new community! Once I heard about their meeting and saw the business card, I had to start following this cute blog! Thanks for the kind words about my husband Chris (and what a great pic of him)! 🫰🏽💕

So glad this meeting happened and now I can chat /learn about new Kdramas with new people! 🤗

P.S. Singles Inferno is hilarious & very “charming” and innocent! Give it a try and see what you think!
