I'm guessing that drunk driving in Korea is less common than in the USA. Why? Because in every Kdrama I've seen they invariably 'call for a driver.'
No, that's not the same thing as calling Uber! Instead, in Korea the drinker will call a service that provides a driver to come to the bar or restaurant. The driver will use the drinker's personal car to get them home safely. I suppose that the driver then gets picked up or catches a ride to his next assignment. (Favorite daughter says that in Japan they actually appear at the Bar in a car with 2 drivers; one drives the drinker's car to their home while the other person follows in the company car... kind of like a relay.)
The beauty of this system is that the drinker ends up at home with his own car and no one is at risk from drunk driving! Now this idea makes sense to me... Judy
I like the piggyback ride people tend to get from their friends to get home! But I agree, everything is better than drunk driving.
Hi Judy and Pat. I agree, what a sensible solution to a dangerous problem.
