My Eyes are Glazing Over

What does this phrase mean and how does it pertain to Kdramas? Clearly it means one is bored or thinking about something else. But for a Gmama, it can also mean something else, and that something else is THE INABILITY TO FATHOM WHAT THE HECK THIS COMPLICATED AND CONVOLUTED KDRAMA PLOT IS ALL ABOUT. Did I make myself clear here? I hope so.
This phenomenon happened to me yesterday when a friend was attempting to explain the plot of a Kdrama he was watching. Frankly, it so complex and involved I had to go into shut down mode and my eyes glazed over as he attempted to describe I-don’t-know-what! Did I have control over this happening? In a giant word, NO. It was autonomic response to save what bits of my brain cells were still working. You know, sometimes I can hang in there and just go for it, but other times call for self preservation, and this, my friends, was one of those times.
Clearly I won’t be watching any Kdramas that put me in this state. There’s a line one just can’t cross. What Kdramas put you over the edge and made your eyes glaze over? I’d love to hear! ~Pat

Well, clearly I have more stamina than Pat! The complex story lines & interconnected threads are one of the things I love about Kdramas. But she's correct, sometimes it's over the top. I recently finished Alchemy of Souls which is a fantasy story and I found the fantasy part overly complex. (Fantasy is not my genre... give me a rom-com any day.) That being said I was able to persevere to the end.
I too like dense plotting; often in these cases I pop over to dramabeans recaps to make sure I'm getting everything. Most of the time the convoluted plotting is satisfying to me--but here's my vote for most complicated plotting--Mouse. I'm watching this now, and I keep muttering "WHAT is going on?". It's frustrating! Most satisfying dense plotting--Stranger (Forest of Secrets).
I'm not a thriller person by nature but for some reason have been watching this genre lately and it's certainly an exercise for the brain cells
The complicated plots are one of the things I like the most about KDramas. But trying to describe the plot to someone else is difficult.
I was trying to explain to my husband who the people were in “See you in my 19th Life”. He just couldn’t understand how the young man on the see saw at the park with a little girl on the other end of the seesaw was the little girls first love in her 18th life. He kept asking me, “But how can she be in love with him? She’s a little girl?” I would try to explain that she was going to grow up and fall in love with him in her 19th life, …
You didn't say which complex Kdrama you are referring to, but it sounds like I would be lost in the first episode.
