Korea and many other countries are having a big problem. Not enough babies. In fact, South Korea has the lowest birthrate in the world at just under .8% which means for every woman they give birth to less than 1 kid each.
For those of you who squirm around kids this may seem like a perfectly good thing; but it puts Korea (and countries like it) on a disastrous course. Their population will age with less and
less babies being born. This results in not enough working people to fill all the job vacancies plus the potential for an entire population to actually die out. (Remember Neanderthals?)
So what's going on? From what I can gather there are several reasons. In Korea these include things like
Kids are expensive
Housing is expensive
Societal pressures for kids to be super-achievers
Women trying to stay in their careers
Are the sleepless night due to the SEX or the BABIES???
22,000/year equals $60.27 per sleepless night, minus expenses...
