It' Pat. I recently watched When the Stars Gossip. I was enthralled the entire time.
Apparently I was one of the very few who felt this way. Even AI said it was considered to be a flop with low ratings, poor reviews, and a lack of buzz.
GIVE ME A BREAK!
The way the actors looked like they were weightless was accomplished by using computer graphics, wires, and metallic arms. It was a production to get them moving and make them look authentic. The one American actor, Alex Hafner, didn’t know Korean and had to learn to “read the room” to know when it was his turn to speak. In an article I read about him, he mentioned he didn’t understand any of the dialogue. Join the club, Alex. That’s how I feel after countless hours of watching Kdramas!
I found the leads had great chemistry, and I couldn’t wait to watch their relationship develop. Of course part of it was getting to watch Lee Min-ho on the screen, but I also thought Gong Hyo-jin was fantastic, and I bought into their love affair completely. I was so taken by it that the bittersweet ending seemed like the organic way to end. I felt about it the way I felt about Mr. Sunshine.
Okay, I’ve left myself open to lots of teasing from Judy. Have at me, Judy. I’m tough and I can take it. Just don’t dump on Lee Min-ho. That’s going too far!
It is amazing to me that Pat and I are friends. She raved and raved about this show so of course I had to watch it. I generously gave it a 5-6; her husband gave it a 4. Dumb story line, ridiculous over-emphasis on making babies for rich people, and just silly science. I can agree that the special effects of weighlessness were well executed but then they had Mission Control only working 8-5... Ridiculous! And her supposition that this show is remotely on the same level as Mr Sunshine makes me question her sanity. She's dead wrong on this.... trust me. ~ Judy

IVF is an accepted medical practice in many countries. I have several friends who wouldn’t have kids without some sort of intervention like this. It’s not silly science. (Okay, the mouse stuff is pretty silly. I’ll give you that.) IVF isn't the silliness I was referring to.... the fruit flies, the mice, the smuggling aboard of human eggs in ice cream dishes... just silly. Mission Control was there AROUND THE CLOCK. Where were you? No it wasn't, they had no one in Mission Control after hours.... just an empty room. I only compared the bittersweet ending in this show to Mr. Sunshine. Hey it’s hard for you to get Lee Byung-hun out of your head. I get it. You’ll be fine…give it time…with some meds. She's dead wrong on this.... trust me. ~ Judy
Look at that Pat.... two people who clearly think like me! Gosh, I wonder if viewership will plummet on this Kdrama because of our blog post.
I strongly disliked this show. None of it made sense (I work in an IVF clinic) and it didn't do any favors for the South Korean space program. I watched it to the bitter end, although I'm not sure why. The only show I stopped watching is Welcome to Waikiki. It's always fun to see which shows people like and which ones they don't so thanks for the debate on this one.
