Crash Landing on You has introduced me to a new hand signal.... the Finger Heart! Apparently it's commonplace in Korea to use your pointer and thumb to make a little heart for others to see. This is an easy and quick way to show affection for lots of things. And not quite so obvious as the giant heart made with your arms above your head!
I like this so much that I'm teaching my 4-year and 2-year old grandgirls how to do this. It is not intuitive and requires a bit of manipulation for toddlers to manage; but I'm sure the pay-off will be worth it!
And I'm thinking it"s much better than the one fingered salute we use in the good ole USA!! ~Pat
I think the girls are catching on!
I have one that will definitely learn it and maybe the 2 year olds will give it a whirl.
CathayPacific.com has a 2019 article "A brief history of Korean finger hearts." You might find it in the "Culture" section. I discovered it via a random series of website clicks. You will be amazed by the myriad representations of this universal gesture, from Adobe Art to Etsy to Pinterest to Wikipedia. Just google "Finger heart."
I love this! I, too, will be teaching it to my 6 year old grand.
I plan to show this to my 2.5 year old grandaughter!
