Half Full? Half Empty?

Without fail, all coffee cups are only filled halfway up in Korea. That includes in break rooms, vending machines, and restaurants. No clue why, but it's a universal truth.

I'm told that instant coffee in Korea is quite tasty and you'll notice very obvious product placement shots whenever the Kdrama is set in an office. Vending machines provide lots of different varieties like black, with cream only, with cream and sugar, etc etc.... but you still only get half a cup.

Pat here. Most of the office based Kdramas I’ve watched have only have instant coffee available. Even though Judy says shes been told it’s “quite tasty”, I think my taste buds would revolt if they were served that stuff. And Judy’s right: the cups are only half filled. Is this be cause the stuff they serve is undrinkable? We might have to do some in country research to find out!

It is an interesting idea, for sure.

Could it be that they walk with coffee cups and no lids, so full cups might lead to wardrobe changes?
