Judy here... Many of you know that I have expanded my interests and now have some awareness of Kpop. But I must confess that I'm totally focused on boy bands. (This is a surprise to you, right?) Well, I've delved into my feelings and want to explain.
I find girl Kpop bands totally infantilized. Their outfits, their dancing, their gestures..... everything is geared to make them look like pre-pubescent young girls. The pigtails for their hair, the knee socks, the tiny plaid skirts.... the whole look is more appropriate for an 11 year old than a 18-30 year old performer. I read recently that in Korea cuteness is considered
I believe this girl band is Cignature
attractive, and this cuteness can be shown by both women and men. I find it weird to see 30 year old men act 'cute' but for me the women acting cute simply goes too far. I mean why does everyone have to look like an 11 year old virgin? Don't men find this kind of thing inappropriate?
But then again, I have to remember I'm a 70 year old grandma... and my fondness for the adorable 30 something year old MALE actors and singers is inappropriate too.
That's because they are young I think.
They are still 10 agers.
I think K pop girl bands usually have a sexy or girl crush concept.
When a young girl uses a sexy concept, Koreans think it negatively, so they have the cute concept.
I couldn't agree more with your opinion, and I've never seen a video of a Kpop girl band!
RM is my favorite too!
I am right there with you. Can’t stand girl groups. And their big pitches voices, ewww. A singer like IU is so much better. Although I don’t listen to her also. For me there’s only one group and that’s BTS and especially RM.
