One of the fun things I've noticed is that I have become adept at spotting actors from show to show. Since I was never a huge consumer of American movies or TV shows I never got to 'know' any particular actor. Not so with Kdramas!
It's kind of fun to realize 'oh, that guy was in that other show....' It's also a terrific way to realize that some of these actors are incredible. In one show they're a woman; in another show a man. In one show they're sympathetic; in another show they're a villain. So fun!
Some examples include
Park Eun-Bin in Extraordinary Attorney Woo and The King's Affection
Lee Sung-Min in Misaeng and Reborn Rich
Jung Kyung-Ho in Hospital Playlist and Crash Course in Romance
I suppose with a smaller population it's not surprising that we see some of the same faces and let's be honest, since their names are kind of hard for Americans to remember we identify them as 'the boss in Misaeng' or 'the Math Teacher in Crash Course.'
Guess that's the next goal. Need to learn those names!
And Pat's favorites:
Lee Byung-hun in Mr. Sunshine and Our Blues
Song Hye-kyo in Descendants of the Sun and The Glory
Kim Seon-ho in Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Start Up
Of course this also means that we’re totally hooked on Kdramas. When we look back and realize how many we have both watched, well…it’s scary and amazing all at once!
Male is Lee Sung-min and the woman is Park Eun-bin and both won at recent Baeksang Awards. Sorry, I should have included that!
I don't know the names of any of the actors I've seen! But then, I've only watched a few Kdramas (less than one hand's worth--sorry, Sis). And, I doubt that I'd recognize any of the actors that I have seen if they were in any other show. Like you said, they can look very different when playing various roles.
BTW, for us newbies, maybe you could identify the actors in the pictures attached to this blog.
