Although I did not care for the mother in Something in the Rain I did love her bedding! In many Kdramas you will see bedding that is placed directly on the floor rather than mattresses like we have in the US. Well, I may want to live in Korea just to get the bedding. In nicer homes the bedding is sumptuous looking...beautiful fabric, gorgeous detailing, and what appears to be extremely soft down or silk filler.
Being an ardent quilter I have plenty of bedding at my house. But I do not have anything like these comforters. While looking over Korean tourist sites I've seen that bedding is featured in many stores. Take it from me I will be checking it out when we visit!
Judy, I see the ‘yo.' ('Yo' is what they're called in Korea) These are the floor mattresses-more like a thick blanket than a mattress - that Koreans put directly on the floor. Then they cover up with those sumptuous comforters that you’re lusting after. I see a yo in the picture you’ve included here.
Speaking from experience, sleeping on the floor is not for the faint hearted…or the creaky knees. Whenever I’ve been in Japan I have stayed in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn. The bedding is usually place directly on tatami mats. This type of bedding was much easier to endure when I was 25, my first visit to Japan. The most recent time I was there I was over 70, and getting up and down in the middle of the night was much more difficult. It sheds new light on the ‘Help!! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up! scenario. Just ask any grandma. They’ll agree. And you have my word on that.
The variety of subjects that you've covered is so interesting. I always learn from them.
I am always impressed at how many interesting blog subjects the gmammas come up with! I think I'm more of a percale person myself.
Hi Ladies,
