Koreans have wonderful hair. It's thick, luxurious, shiny, black, and usually straight. When I first delved into Kdramas I was a bit put-off by some of the 'in your eyes' men's hairstyles... I mean, that gorgeous hair was combed forward so it almost covers their eyes! But, as with most things Kdrama, I have learned to embrace the style.
This floppy - kind of like the Beatles - haircut is prevalent in younger men. For example, in 'Misaeng A Life Interrupted' the actor Im Si-wan has his hair in his eyes almost the entire show... to the point that I wanted to brush it aside. But, no! This is actually the style for
younger guys; Siwan (his preferred name) is a hot singer/actor and looks great with the longer hair. They also keep their sideburns cut in a pointed shape; not squared off like many American men. I don't know if it's the dark eyes in combination with the dark hair or what; but these guys are adorable. I don't care if they are the age of my children!
As they age it seems they begin to comb their hair to the sides; still while looking fabulous. Check out Favorite Actors page to see some other hairstyles... I can't think of any actor with bad hair.
As long as we are talking hair, let's talk about the penchant to dye that luxurious black hair...red. Okay, it's not really fire engine red, but it's definitely got a copper sheen to it. And in this case, both male and female actors do it. AND WHY? I'm going to ask my buddy Mo if she can shed any light on this. ~Pat
I think that train may have left but will keep my eyes open!
