Maybe I've discovered the secret to beautiful, Korean skin....
In Kdramas, no matter how slight the injury you will always see first aid provided in the form of antiseptic and bandaids. Tenderly provided by the gorgeous male lead. Nope, they don't just blow on the cut...they actually bandage it up. Why is it that I grew up with 'the air will do it good' and Koreans grew up with this overly cautious response?
And bloody noses!! Have you EVER seen a bloody nose on American shows? No! That is something that is definitely left 'off-camera.' In Kdramas they feature nosebleeds.... gorgeous actors on screen with tissues stuffed up one nostril to stanch the blood. I mean, WHAT????
And those visits to the Emergency Room for what we would wait a few days for.... or at least my generation would wait a few days. But in Kdramas they will usually suggest a visit to the hospital for head bumps, pulled muscles, and just anything that might happen that can't be solved with bandaids or tissues stuffed up your nose. I really neglected my children. ~Judy
Pat here. Judy, you ought to be married to a pediatrician and see how he takes care of his kids. Spoiler alert: I am. First, hand washing is mandatory. Is there a stronger word than mandatory? That’s what went on in our house. Second, Neosporin. Why didn’t we buy stock in that? Third, the PERFECT bandage. I think you know what I mean here. There’s no putting on one that’s too small or too big for the wound being cared for. Do you think he might be Korean??
The only time in my entire life that a doctor did a house call for me was when your dear husband came over to check out one of my sick kids. He was more worried about said child than I was....
I'm with you Judy. Once one of the children had a seizure and no one called us. (They did follow first aid procedure and call emergency services and had given the medical history by the time I showed up.).
Oh, the trials and tribulations of Parenthood!
I'm so wondering about the pads they put on a sore back and such. And about the stuff they sip out of those packages. I'm certainly going to explore that when I'm in SK in April.
